I wouldn't say for fun, but I will not deny that it is a large part of my job.
I am disappointed though...I thought for certain that you were the kind who wouldn't let people tell you what to do, or who's company to enjoy. [Tarn sighs] A pity.
["Disappointed" is literally the worst word the could possibly exist, and Tailgate inwardly flinches when Tarn uses it. He might not know Tarn very well, but the idea of disappointing a stranger is an unthinkable one.
Besides, Tarn had it right the first time; Tailgate has never let anyone tell him who he should and shouldn't hang out with. Why start now?]
Umm... well I guess it won't hurt to talk over the MID.
[He likes Tarn's voice too, so this works out well for him.]
But, uh, mind if I ask a question? What does the DJD do, exactly? Besides killing people for job reasons, obviously.
[Tarn is doing his best to seem open and approachable to this easily led minibot. He has a feeling that Tailgate will provide useful information for him in the future.]
My team has been tasked by Megatron himself to serve as a sort of...preformance management for the Decepticon Cause. We keep the troops in order and whenever a weak-willed mech falls from the ranks and turns traitorous, we make sure he is dealt with efficiently.
Yes, we will kill the traitor, but really, how can we continue to fight to ensure happiness and prosperity for Cybertron if our ranks are riddled with miscreants?
[best to keep the explanation as simple as possible. He may be leaving out some small details, but Tarn thinks that this should be enough for his small friend.]
[His mind flickers towards Getaway. He still thinks that Cyclonus misunderstood somewhere, but still...]
No. I mean, not in any real way. There's been the odd person who doesn't meet me at the bar when they said they were going to, but nothing more serious than that.
[But he can tell where this is going.]
I never really considered how you Decepticons felt when Megatron became an Autobot. To me, it's just a thing that happened that no one is very happy with.
[Tarn gives Tailgate a bit of a strange look. How is it that someone manages to survive millions of years of war and come out the otherside so naive? Had he been hiding in a hole in the ground?]
Yes it seems that no one is particularly happy about the arrangement beside Megatron himself. His betrayal was devastating; it felt as if the ground had dropped from under me.
[Fishing for a bit of sympathy never hurts when you're trying to earn trust.]
[Tailgate falls for it hook, line, and sinker. Despite knowing what both Tarn and Megatron are, he can't help but feel a bit sorry for Tarn and a bit angry at Megatron. He can't honestly imagine that kind of betrayal.]
I'm pretty new to this whole Autobot and Decepticon thing, but it was very weird to wake up and realize that the Big Bad himself was on the ship. Imagine being told things about a person and they turn up and aren't what you imagined them to be.
What was he like when he was a Decepticon? I bet he wasn't quite so mopey and moody.
He does seem different now from when he was a Decepticon. Much more sluggish and...apethetic. It's disturbing to see him like this. He used to have such fire in his spark.
Maybe it has something to do with that, um, whatever it is that he has to take.
[He tries to remember what it was called. Something Energon.]
I heard someone talk about it back on the Lost Light, but he has to take some kind of medicine to make him weak. Just in case he decides to do that whole warlord thing again I bet. I don't know if he's taken it in a while though, so who knows.

Fool's Energon.
I had a friend who snuck into the medbay once to try Megatron's stash of energon. I bet it tasted like feet.
[Tailgate has nothing to base this assumption on. He just thinks that if it tastes bad then it should taste like the dirtiest part of the body.]

...Wait, I shouldn't be telling you this, should I?
